We have adopted the motto “stronger together” as the overarching theme of our response to the COVID-19 crisis, and we are committed to putting our words into action.
As part of Creating Communities’ strategy for helping people manage at this time, we have gathered leading public figures and social commentators to offer their insights and wisdom in a series of video interviews which we will be sharing with you in coming weeks.
We may be physically distanced but we can all find strength in the contributions and counsel of others.
We launch this series with our conversation with social advocate Tim Costello, a leading voice in the not-for-profits sector for many years.
Tim is a Baptist minister, director of Ethical Voice and executive director of Micah Australia. He is also a special adviser to Creating Communities.

Simon Towler Simon is an intensive care specialist at Fiona Stanley Hospital and a former WA chief medical officer and Australian Medical Association WA president. He has more than 30 years’ experience as a medical practitioner across a range of fields, with particular interest in system reform and management.
Emma Jarvis Emma is the chief executive officer of drug and alcohol support service Palmerston Association, a board director of the Western Australian Association for Mental Health, board director of the Western Australian Network of Alcohol and other Drug Agencies, committee member of the Supporting Communities Forum and former vice chair of the WA AIDS Council.
Griffin Longley Griffin is a community development professional and chief executive at Nature Play WA, a not-for-profit agency which works to encourage children into outside play and exploration. He is a director of Lifting Horizons, which runs a midnight basketball program for at-risk youth in WA. Griff was previously a columnist and reporter at The West Australian newspaper.
Lynne Craigie Lynne is president of the Shire of East Pilbara, the largest local government in WA by area, with its administrative centre in Newman. She is also the immediate past president of the WA Local Government Association. She has chaired a range of local community groups, including the Pilbara Regional Council, Newman Women’s Shelter, Newman Visitors Centre and the Newman Senior High School board.
Allan Tranter Allan is the founding director of Creating Communities. He is a former director of the WA Department of Sport and Recreation, and has led urban renewal projects across metropolitan and regional WA, working on projects that address significant issues in our society, such as ageing, multiculturalism and Aboriginal communities. Allan is chair of Nature Play WA, and has been on the board of companies including the Urban Development Institute of Australia and the Western Australian Technology Precinct.
Amit Khaira has worked with emerging generations across 3 continents. He has experience in business, education and not-for-profit sectors. He is married with four children and is passionate about emerging generations realising their full potential, becoming valuable contributors to their families and communities.
