Live It, Tell It Community Plan Released

The draft Strategic Community Plan 2018-2028 has been released by the Town of Port Hedland for community consideration.

Last year we spent a good few months up in the Pilbara collaborating with the Town of Port Hedland to engage with community members, identify key priorities, collate data and, most importantly, hear their stories.

We wanted to know what they wanted for the years to come, and through the launch of the ‘Live It Tell It’ campaign, we worked with the Town of Port Hedland to bring to light the shared desires of the Town to build a sustainable and cohesive community that people are proud to call home.

The Plan, released on the 28th of March and open for feedback until the 27th of April, reflects the work done throughout the Live It Tell It campaign, identifying the community’s vision and priorities for the future.

“To be Australia’s leading Port Town embracing community, culture and environment”

Following the conclusion of the feedback period, public comments will be considered, and the final Plan will be presented for council adoption in May 2018.

We urge as many people as possible to head to the Town of Port Hedland website and read the draft Plan. Over 5,800 direct community interactions were undertaken last year to ensure a Strategic Plan that accurately reflected the thoughts, feelings, and aspirations of the community.

Below are the goals set out by the community, for the community.

  • OUR COMMUNITY – We honour our people and our cultural heritage – ensuring wellbeing, diversity, creativity and a strong civic dialogue.
  • OUR ECONOMY – We build prosperity for all – enabling sustained economic growth.
  • OUR BUILT AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT – We treasure and protect our natural environment and provide sustainable and resilient infrastructure and built form.
  • OUR LEADERSHIP – We are united in our actions to connect, listen, support and advocate thereby leveraging the potential of our people, places and resources.

We were thrilled to be able to work alongside the Town of Port Hedland on one of the most extensive engagement programs ever delivered in the Town and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Town.
