Scope | Creating Communities was engaged by the Town of Port Hedland to produce a community vision and strategy document to guide infrastructure delivery and community development in the town. The town covers an area of 11,844 square kilometres and has approximately 15000 residents with a large fly in fly out population.
The key aims of the blueprint were to: - Describe the investment required from the WA Government, Commonwealth Government and other stakeholders for the effective development of essential infrastructure and services in Port Hedland to make it a more attractive place for people to live, work, shop and recreate.
- Redress the negative impacts on the quality of life for residents of Port Hedland and South Hedland due to the current lack of amenity and community dysfunction.
- Articulate a phased approach to community development, by building on the outcomes already achieved through the close collaboration of key stakeholders.
- Provide an effective model for the integrated and cost effective delivery of infrastructure and community services across the Pilbara, through the development of cross sector partnerships.
