Challenge

To develop a strategic approach and framework to kick-start the creation of a vibrant, active and safe precinct as part of the Mirrabooka Regional Centre Improvement Strategy.

To determine the distinctive place the new Mirrabooka Regional Centre would become, reflecting the needs and priorities of a plethora of government, commercial and not-for-profit organisations.

Our Role

The City of Stirling commissioned Creating Communities to prepare a Community Development and Economic Development Plan for the Mirrabooka Regional Centre. Our mandate was to build a common vision and strategic directions for the precinct through a series of one-on-one meetings and workshops with relevant stakeholders.

Successes

  • Appointment by the City of Stirling of a Community Development Officer;

  • The planning process delivered significant support for the project and commitment from stakeholders;

  • Shared vision and values;

  • Relationships between key stakeholders strengthened;

  • Opportunities for partnerships introduced;

  • Blending of urban planning and community strategies; and

  • A catalyst to attract significants State Government funding into the project.
