To work with the residents to collectively to build a vibrant, functioning and cohesive community.

To have the community of Harvest Lakes be responsible for driving the quality of community life, managing community-related matters and organising their own social events and activities

Strategy


LandCorp, through Creating Communities, was responsible for setting up the Harvest Lakes Residents Association in 2004 and assisting the group to become incorporated in 2005. Creating Communities continues to work in partnership with the Association to plan and deliver the Estate’s Community Development Program, including a range of events and programs. We offer advice and support on corporate governance and provide sponsorship support and training in managing their own community events, newsletter and dealing with community issues.

Achievements

  • The Harvest Lakes Residents Association was initiated in early 2004 and became incorporated in 2005;

  • A growing membership of residents;

  • The Association is considered one of the most proactive and well organised resident associations in the City of Cockburn;

  • In 2006, the Executive Committee of the Association won a Cockburn Volunteer Award for service excellence to the community; and

  • The establishment of an events and social subcommittee to plan and run their own community events.
