Frasers Living Wallsproject highlights - case study

Research and engagement

Project

Frasers Living Walls at Frasers Landing

Client

Frasers Property Group

Challenge

The Frasers Landing project is the first of its kind in Australia, and has a particularly strong focus on eco-conservation and preservation of the Indigenous heritage of the area.

Living Walls is an innovative approach to engage the local community. The project will create a ‘living wall’ of vegetation that will grow directly onto the façade of buildings. It can also be grown as a separate structural system either adjacent, or attached, to a wall.

Our Role

Creating Communities led the concept development process in consultation with the local community and key stakeholders. Relationships have been fostered with nearby Coodanup Community College and the Winjan Indigenous Community.

 Outcomes

Phase One of the project is underway. Two stand-alone Living Walls are being established with the involvement of the College and the Indigenous Community.

Phase One also includes a research component that will monitor and assess the Walls as they evolve. Students will conduct the research and keep records on growing conditions and the Walls’ upkeep. This will provide essential reference data for future stages.
