Challenge

The Dalyellup Beach Estate is a master planned community. Dalyellup Beach is located seven kilometres south of the Bunbury CBD, and ten minutes from Capel, nestled between the beautiful Indian Ocean and surrounded by 150 hectares of Tuart forest.

The Satterley Property Group is committed to the formation of a dynamic and well connected community through the delivery of a multi-faceted community and economic development program. The aim is to build the skills, confidence and capacity of the residents and community groups in Dalyellup and enhance the quality of life.

Our Role

Creating Communities planned and implemented a Community Development Strategy, which sought to build social capital and quality of life through:

• Establishing and supporting a range of community groups, clubs and associations;

• Partnering with the Shire of Capel in the provision and activation of appropriate facilities;

• Develop and manage iconic events to build social cohesion and market the Estate; and

• Attract relevant support services to the Estate.

Achievements

• Establishment of 25 community organisations;

• Creation of forums for collaborative planning between groups;

• Support for the early establishment of education facilities;

• Publication of community-based newsletter and intranet site;

• Coordination of an events and activities calendar;

• Prepared, in partnership with the Shire of Capel, a Community Infrastructure Plan;

• Coordinated the public art nature trail program in partnership with the local school;

• Established and maintained the Dalyellup Community Centre as the major community hub; and

• Identified and attracted funding partners to support community arts projects.
