The City of South Perth wanted to undertake research into the City’s needs regarding the provision of community facilities in their locality.

The aim of undertaking a Community Facilities Needs Study was to determine the needs and expectations for local community facilities, and to recommend an appropriate strategic response to their provision and management.

In undertaking the study, the following tasks outlined in the project brief were completed by Creating Communities:

  • Literature review;

  • Site visits and review usage of existing venues;

  • A random survey of residents of the City of South Perth;

  • A survey of user groups of existing community facilities; and

  • Analysis of research findings.

Outcome

The significant number of recommendations from the final Facility Needs Study Report were adopted by the City for implementation in 2004.
