Project | Hay Park Feasibility Study
|
Client | City of Bunbury |
Challenge | Hay Park is the City of Bunbury’s main sporting complex, catering for a broad range of sports. Population growth, a strong sporting culture and usage by clubs in neighbouring local governments present challenges for upgrading and developing sporting facilities.
We were commissioned to investigate and report on the feasibility of developing sport and recreation facilities in Bunbury, with a primary focus on Hay Park by:
- Building on the research and planning carried out for the City’s Recreation Plan;
- Providing a detailed assessment of specific facility development options, their overall feasibility and associated social and financial implications;
- Investigating the impact of proposed developments at Hay Park on other sporting facilities within the Greater Bunbury area;
- Investigating proposed and potential future developments at other sporting facilities within the Greater Bunbury area;
- Assessing the impact of existing and proposed sports facilities within adjoining local governments.

| Creating Communities has embraced all of the above, and also consulted with elected members, relevant Council staff, other key stakeholders and a wide range of users, to provide the City of Bunbury with a comprehensive facility development strategy and concept master plan. |
Outcome | The project is ongoing and will include preparation of capital cost estimates and a funding model, development of a facility management model and preparation of a staged implementation plan. |
