Donna is the Chairman of Creating Communities and was Managing Director from 2002 to 2013. She holds a Masters in International Administration from the School for International Training in Vermont, USA, and has also worked in the USA, Tunisia and Ecuador. Donna has extensive experience in social planning, strategic planning, community engagement, communications and training. She is a Director of World Vision International and World Vision Australia, and serves on the World Vision Australia Innovation Council. Donna has also served on the boards of the Enviro-development Board for the Urban Development Institute of Australia (WA), the University of Western Australia Extension Advisory Board, Southern Arc, Ausdance WA, Chrissie Parrot Dance Collective and the Independent Filmmakers Association.
Allan founded Creating Communities in 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Social Science from Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia, and has diverse expertise in recreation planning, community wellness, land development, regional planning, the retirement industry and social planning. Allan also has broad experience in the public sector, having been the Director of Recreation in WA and consulted to numerous public agencies on a wide range of issues. He additionally has extensive experience in the private sector and spent several years in Asia working for a Chinese/Malaysian company in shopping centre management and executive development. Allan has been a member of a wide range of boards and steering committees including the Urban Development Institute of Australia, Western Australian Technology Precinct, Barking Gecko Theatre Company and State Athletics Association, and he is a board member for Nature Play WA.
Carl Binning is the Managing Director of Creating Communities. He is a practitioner of sustainable development, providing advice on the integration of community, environment and economic strategies. He brings a proven approach to building communities, having held senior leadership positions within industry, government and community sectors over the last 20 years. Carl worked within BHP Billiton’s Iron Ore business as Vice-President Health, Safety, Environment and Communities. He was Chief Executive of Greening Australia – the largest community-based environment organisation in Australia – and has also held roles at CSIRO, where he was a Principal Research Economist, and within the Commonwealth Departments of Environment and Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Aine is responsible for administration and managing the accounting requirements including invoicing, time billing reporting and analyses, and supporting staff with their development and management of project budgeting. She has a wealth of accounting and bookkeeping skills and experience from a range of organisations.

Andrew joined Creating Communities in 2006 and currently leads the company’s Education, Community Engagement and Resource sector operations. He has specialist expertise in policy, planning, marketing, community activation and community engagement. He has also worked in a number of different Western Australian communities in his previous work in the Education sector as a School Principal, Deputy Principal, District Operations Manager, Senior Project Manager and teacher, being involved in the establishment of new schools and rationalisation of existing schools. With a reputation for outstanding leadership, strategic planning and communication skills Andrew recently directed the community engagement process for City of Fremantle’s Kings Square Project which was awarded a 2013 International Association for Public Participation Award. Andrew is a current Healthway board member and the immediate past president of the WA Branch of the Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation (ACHPER) – an organisation that awarded him with their inaugural Award of Honour in 2006 and appointed him as a fellow in 2012.

Angela is passionate about grass roots community engagement and connecting people. This passion was recognised through the award of a John Curtin Undergraduate Scholarship, which allowed her to further develop her project and volunteer management skills while graduating with a Double Degree (Hons) in Social Sciences and Commerce.
Enthusiastic and approachable, Angela brings an awareness of cultural diversity to the role, having travelled extensively and studied overseas for part of her degree. She offers an innovative perspective, a capability in research and prides herself on her ability to talk to anyone!

Bec is highly valued for her strong instincts for elegant design and masterful use of current technology as well as her depth of experience in both the creative and corporate sectors. She delivers distinctive designs that communicate in simple, engaging and effective ways.
Bec has a Bachelor of Communications, majoring in Advertising, from Edith Cowan University, and a Certificate IV in Graphic Design from Shillington College, Melbourne. In addition to managing, producing, designing and printing a diverse range of communications materials, she also has experience in packaging and online design and production.

Franca is the first point of contact for all visitors to Creating Communities. She manages the upkeep and maintenance of the office and provides all manner of support that ensures the Perth team operates smoothly.

Francesca joined creating communities in April of this year in an internship position, fascinated by the impacts of community and social development on economic outcomes. She is currently completing her final year of a Bachelor of Economics with majors in Economics and International Business Economics and a minor in Business Law at UWA. In her time at Creating Communities she has assisted on research projects including a Social Impact Assessment and been involved in the facilitation of a range of community events.

Jennelle’s passion lies in community development with a background in events coordination and management. She has been involved with helping to facilitate major community events, weekend markets and small-scale community gatherings. Jennelle has also worked with a range of community members, coordinating their involvement in community activities.

Karen initially joined Creating Communities to manage the company’s financial operations. She then progressed to become Office Manager, looking after human resources and administration as well as working on project-related tasks.
Returning from maternity leave, Karen has taken on the role of Consultant, coordinating and supporting a range of community and economic development projects.
With a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Accounting and Marketing, as well as a Diploma in Modern Languages in Italian from the University of Western Australia, Karen is a qualified CPA with more than 10 years experience in both the chartered accounting and commerce industries.
- EMAIL Karen Haseldine
Kim joined Creating Communities in 2008 to open the Port Hedland office and head up community and youth development projects in the region. She subsequently moved to Perth and is a Senior Consultant on Indigenous projects. Kim has broad community development and social planning experience, including research and analysis, events management, community and stakeholder liaison, partnership development, workshop facilitation, public relations and youth development. She believes a holistic approach is the key to achieving sustainable outcomes. Kim also holds a MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) from the University of Western Australia.

Lynden has more than 30 years experience in community development, including expertise in community engagement and social planning in urban and rural communities globally. She has worked as a social planning consultant, community engagement specialist and educator with Australian and international non-government organisations, as well as with the private and government sectors, and has a proven record in establishing networks of relationships necessary for successful community-building.

Nicholas has a strong interest in supporting community development and was a volunteer coordinator and mentor with The Global Good Foundation, where he worked closely with young people at risk. He also has qualifications in events management and hospitality.

Nic is a committed Social Research Consultant whose background includes stakeholder and community engagement, impact assessment and qualitative and quantitative research methods. Experienced in working with oil, gas and other resource sector clients, he understands social aspects and issues relating to the environment and resources management, social sustainability and social license to operate. Nic has completed several projects within WA including a baseline community assessment, a Social Impact Assessment, Social Impact Management Planning, business capacity assessments, Indigenous Affairs and fieldwork in WA’s north. He has authored several reports and articles instrumental in policy and planning decisions.

Noëlle is an experienced writer, editor and proofreader whose professional background spans three countries and as many decades. She was in book publishing before becoming Assistant Editor on several in-house magazines for a large British retailer. She also worked in Korea, writing publicity material for a major five-star hotel in Seoul. In Perth, Noëlle freelanced for a wide range of advertising agencies and design groups before joining Creating Communities where she writes, edits and proofreads whatever comes her way.

Rebecca has a Bachelor of Social Science, with majors in Anthropology and Sociology from Curtin University. She works on a variety of projects including The Village Markets at Wellard and is gaining deeper experience of community development through exposure to a broad range of clients.

Rebecca is a graduate from the University of California, Berkeley and she worked for six years as Chief Designer at a not-for-profit American company. Her creativity, diverse experience and unique design perspective ensure the graphic and communications team at Creating Communities produces work of the highest calibre. She joined the company in 2005 and is responsible for overseeing all communication materials.

Rob has a wealth of graphic design experience built from working at many top studios in Australia and abroad. As well as being creative, he has an excellent working knowledge of design software, industry standards and current trends; he’s also good at problem-solving. Rob’s understanding of social issues comes across in his design work that adds value to all client work.
