Established in 1992, Creating Communities Australia (CCA) adheres to its founding vision—to bring together the interests of people, business, government and not-for-profit organisations to create vibrant and functioning communities.
At CCA, we believe that places need to be about people, and that communities need to be sustainable. We strive for innovation in community and economic development, recognising the uniqueness of communities and the need for a customised approach.
We consult, engage and listen. We help communities imagine their futures and articulate a vision that inspires commitment. We facilitate and monitor tangible outcomes. Community development models used by CCA integrate the ideas of such theorists as Putnam, Eckersley, Field, Svendsen, Kunstler, Landry and Florida – to name just a few.
We work with geographical communities on a local level through an emphasis on building the economy; forging and strengthening networks; developing creativity and resilience; and fostering the involvement of not-for-profit sector.
We also support relational communities in workplaces and associations through a focus on collective vision, innovative positioning in the community, team development, partnerships and alliances.
Independent research undertaken by Deakin University has found our approach to increase levels of wellness and quality of life, while our experience has shown that vision, leadership and collaboration deliver positive corporate outcomes.
